Skycourt House by Keiji Ashizawa Design
A very nice renovation project by Tokyo-based studio Keiji Ashizawa Design located in a quiet area few blocks away from the city’s business district. The Skycourt House was originally a Japan “bubble era” house with small windows, cramped bedrooms and no indoor/outdoor flow. It was added a third floor with a tent structure on top of the building, light openings were created to the South, dining and kitchen were shifted to the upper floors while a family area was created on the first floor along with a master bedroom connected to a Japanese-style garden. The lounge created on the third floor opens onto the roof-top terrace overviewing the city’s skyscrapers. We especially like the way living was ingeniously organized vertically. Enjoy!
